Local people who have serious mental health conditions including Schizophrenia and Personality Disorder helped to collect more than 800 signatures on an anti-stigma petition at this year’s Disability Awareness Day.
Staff, volunteers and service users from local specialist mental health and learning disability provider 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust attended Sunday’s event to help educate people about mental ill health and learning disabilities, and to raise awareness of the offence words such as ‘weirdo’ can cause people who are experiencing these conditions.
Visitors and exhibitors from across the country were asked to pledge not to use these hurtful terms and phrases and to sign the Trust’s ‘Sticks and Stones’ petition. Click here http://www.stampoutstigma.co.uk/category/news/ to read more information.

It is hard to deal with being told you have a mental illness, but dealing with the stigma can make you feel worse: http://t.co/iFOv29z RT
