Resources for Employers
It’s really important that our workplaces are free from stigma and somewhere people can feel supported if they have or develop mental ill health.
As such, we have developed an employer’s pack which gives helpful guidance on recruiting and supporting people with mental ill health in the workplace.

If you are an employer, a recruiter or a manager of people you may find that advisory bodies can be helpful when supporting employees who have mental ill-health or a learning disability. To view a list of organisations who are committed to giving you helpful advice and support, click here.
Corporate Partnership and You
One in fourof your employees will experience mental ill-health over the course of the year. We already have a long list of employers who have made the important decision to become Corporate Partners of our campaign because they share our view that there is no place for stigma in the workplace. You can read more about these organisations here. As a responsible and socially-conscious employer, we want you to follow the excellent example set by companies such as the Best Buy Europe and become an Official Corporate Partner of our campaign too.

Thank you for celebrating World Mental Health Day 2011 with us!
On Monday 10 October 2011 people all over the world celebrated World Mental Health Day – an opportunity to think, talk and take action on mental health, learning disabilities and stigma.
We invited all our Corporate Partners to mark World Mental Health Day by helping their employees to challenge stigma within their workplaces.
We were delighted with their response – especially with The Regenda Group who staged stigma events at their offices in Fleetwood, Liverpool, Oldham and Macclesfield.
“At our subsidiary M&Y, which is responsible to carrying out all our repairs and maintenance, all the staff were treated to a healthy breakfast,” says Lucy Bradwell, PR and Marketing Manager.
“The buffet theme was ‘Eat well, keep in touch and take a break’ – three of the 10 Ways to Look after Your Mental Health.”
Remember, you can still use the following FREE e-resources which we have created to help you to engage your employees in our campaign objectives and to help them to take steps to look after their mental well-being.
We have designed four activities which can be done in smaller or larger teams and which vary in length from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.
These include:
Activity One Facts and Stats Quiz: This activity will give your workforce useful information and statistics about mental ill-health and learning disabilities. Click here to view the answers
Activity Two Challenging Stigma: Using our Challenge Cards, teams are encouraged to think about the impact words like ‘nutter’ can have and how they can challenge the use of them.
Activity Three 10 Ways to Look After Your Mental Health: Using the Mental Health Foundation’s 10 Ways to Look After Your Mental Health tips, teams are encouraged to think about how as colleagues they can support each other to make choices that promote positive mental well-being.
Activity Four Making Your Pledge Count: Teams are encouraged to discuss what they can do to support you as their employer to help you to challenge mental health and learning disability-related stigma.
There is also a FREE poster which you can customise to promote your own stigma-related activities.
We would love to hear from you about your outcomes from engaging with your staff on World Mental Health Day – particularly your ideas for embedding our campaign values within your organisation, and if you wish to become a Corporate Partner of the campaign.
Please contact Michelle Ewen on 01925 664818 or email michelle.ewen@5bp.nhs.uk so we can capture your good practice.
